Unfortunately our Musical Director Peter Smith has made the tough decision to step down from his role as MD for the Campbelltown City Band. His last concert will be the Red Shield joint Salvos concert on May 19th.

As such, we are currently accepting applications for the role of Music Director, which will become vacant after May 19th, 2024.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to lead a dedicated community brass band that is well-regarded locally.

  • Dedicated and friendly band & supporters, with consistently great attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
  • Regular and supportive audience of 100-150 for concerts.
  • Busy schedule with free community concerts, Fringe gig, major fund-raising concert, competition,
Christmas concerts and occasional trips away.
  • Excellent music budget and freedom to select your own music.

Responsibilities of the Music Director include managing rehearsals, selecting programs for rehearsals and
performances, providing musical direction to band members, securing performance opportunities, and
collaborating with the Committee to plan the annual schedule.

Additionally, the Music Director will assist in recruiting new members.

The Music Director will receive an honorarium and an annual budget for purchasing new music.

Interested applicants should submit their qualifications and conducting experience, along with their music qualifications. Applications will be acknowledged, processed, and shortlisted, with auditions for shortlisted candidates beginning in April.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a DHS Working with Children Check. We have made significant progress under the leadership of Peter Smith over the past 7 years, consistently ranking in the top 2 of our grade. The band enjoys strong attendance at their concerts and is eager to continue growing under new leadership.

Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at the Campbelltown Function Centre.
