Campbelltown City Band is always honoured to provide musical accompaniment for the dawn service at the Payneham Cross of Sacrifice.  We have been doing this for many a year now and have seen the crowds continually growing each year.

The service was conducted by the Payneham RSL with Tracey Venning as the ever-reliable bugler – even a broken arm did not stop her.  As always, the service was very impressive and memorable, with the local wildlife stirring and birds chirping during the breaking of dawn and the minute’s silence.

At the conclusion of the service, all attendees were invited back to the RSL where a hot breakfast was served.  It’s rumoured some members were seen with the traditional tot of rum and coffee, however these rumours remain unsubstantiated!

After a quick bite (and quicker detour through the golden arches for some well needed pre-march sustenance) some Campbelltown players rushed into the city to attend the ANZAC march in the combined bands of Payneham Concert Band, Holdfast Concert Band, Para Hills Brass Band, St. John’s Brass Band and Campbelltown City Band.
