Lest We Forget

Every year for as far back as I can remember, Campbelltown City Band has been involved in the Payneham RSL sub-branch dawn service at the Cross of Sacrifice on O.G. Road Payneham.  It’s a true highlight of our year to see the ever increasing crowds coming to commemorate ANZAC Day.

We’re always very proud to be involved, especially in such a beautiful location with the birds singing and the sunrise flickering up over the horizon during the ceremony.

Commencing with a few solemn hymns prior to the service, we gradually moved onto the traditional ‘Lead, Kindly Light‘ and ‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save‘.  The ever-reliable Tracy Venning was the bugler for the service, sounding the Last Post and Reveille.

After some respectful and quiet hymns during the laying of the wreaths, God Save the Queen and Advance Australia Fair (both verses!) were played, leading to the conclusion of the ceremony.

Thank you to Kevin Holloway for the photos this morning!
