We are almost at the end of October already and the centenary pace continues. This time we partnered with the Lobethal Harmony Club (a male voice choir) in an evening concert at the Lutheran Church. Fitting band and choir on stage was a logistical nightmare but the mix of choral and instrumental music proved so popular with our audience that we were rewarded with a standing ovation – and a request for an encore performance of our final joint number, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”. It was a mixed blessing at the end of a long and hard blow, but we appreciated the compliment – and the supper which followed. You really can’t beat country hospitality.

As usual, everyone was overawed by the dexterity and musicianship of soloists Adam Little, Julie Dorey, Sam Woods and Steve Packer. Special thanks go to our helpers – Tracy Cook and David Blakey.

And one more achievement to add to this year’s long list….we recently discovered that we are the South Australian Band Association’s Band of the Year. Congratulations, also, to Julie Dorey who received the Band Person of the Year award.
