Welcome to 2021, a year we all hope will be a considerable improvement on its predecessor. We are incurable optimists in Campbelltown band and plans for an action-filled year are well in hand.

Our first outing for the year was the Campbelltown Citizenship ceremony. Covid regulations were strictly followed, but the Function Centre was filled to capacity with excited new citizens and their families. No pesky virus will defeat this intrepid council.

The band was delighted to be invited to play as people were arriving. An up-beat selection, including many Aussie favourites, added to the festive atmosphere, with our ever- versatile MD Peter Smith giving the audience a chance to play “Where’s Wally?”. In case you wondered, he was sitting behind the euphonium.

It’s always heart-warming to see so many people from all over the world wanting to join our community, one which Ivan-Tiwu Copley OAM (aka Uncle Ivan) reminded us goes back many thousands of years. We really are fortunate to be living in such a beautiful and peaceful place.
